3. as soon as we receive the completed order form back from you by email, we have been commissioned by you and will take care of the transfer of your deceased to the USA for you very quickly and reliably. 

 

What documents are required for the repatriation of a deceased person or ashes to the USA?

The following documents are required for the repatriation of a body or urn to the USA.

  • Copy of the ID or passport of the deceased

  • Data (name and telephone number) of the recipient (if applicable, funeral director in the USA) or the data of the accompanying person

    .

All other documents, e.g. birth certificate for unmarried persons, marriage certificate for married persons, death certificate of the spouse for widowed persons, etc., are only required for the final death certificate and can be conveniently submitted to the relevant registry office after the transfer of the deceased.

If documents are missing, a provisional death certificate is issued by the registry office, which can be used to transfer the body or urn to the USA without any problems.

 

What costs are involved in the transfer of a deceased person or urn to the USA

?

The total cost of repatriating a body to the USA varies greatly and depends on the following factors.

  • Where is the deceased currently located ?

  • Airline freight costs (depending on the weight of the deceased)

  • By scheduled flight, ship ferry or private jet ?
  • Fees incurred at the hospital, registry office, cemetery, coroner's office, etc.

  • Urn or coffin transfer

We will be happy to personally accompany the deceased or the urn to the desired airport in the USA. Please ask for a quote if required.

What services and fees do these costs include?

  • The doctor's or hospital's post-mortem fee

  • the collection of the deceased from the place of death and the subsequent transfer to us.

  • We have the option of storing the deceased in our cold storage cells.

  • The hygienic care of the deceased

  • Performing the necessary preservation or embalming with formalin, including optical preparation (thanatopraxy).

  • We carry out the basic hygienic care, dressing (including own clothing if desired), legal coffining.

  • Legal transfer coffin with zinc insert, which is sealed airtight. Incl. pillow and blanket

  • Administration fees and booking of the flight to America

     

  • Issue of an international death certificate from the relevant registry office

  • the corpse passport from the public order office

  • The submission of the German burial documents to the American consulate.

  • The handling of all formalities and trips to the authorities

  • Packing of the coffin with stretch film in accordance with Intern. regulations

  • The transfer to the airport
  • the freight costs of the shipping company for transportation to the destination airport in the USA (up to a body weight of approx. 80 kg) with an airline of our choice. We will also be happy to recommend a suitable funeral director in the USA.

  • Our fixed price is not reduced if individual services are not used.

If you require additional services or services that deviate from our offer, this is possible at any time for an additional charge.


What is the procedure?

  1. Fill out our order form and send it to us by email with the required documents and information.

  2. Wait until we have completed all the necessary documents and all other activities and we will get back to you.

  3. You will receive all important documents and information such as AWB consignment note, flight data, photos etc.

  4. The deceased is duly delivered to the airport and handed over to the forwarding company

 

To which airports do we transfer the deceased in the USA?

Every international airport is able to accept bodies and can therefore be approached.

How long does it take for the deceased to arrive in the USA?

As a rule, a smooth transfer of a body to the USA takes between 5-12 working days.

 

How high are the costs for repatriation from the USA to Germany?

If a death occurs in the USA, we are able to cooperate with our local partners to repatriate the deceased to Germany. This is often associated with very high costs, so it always makes sense to take out travel health insurance.

The total costs are made up of the costs of the funeral director in the United States of America, any outstanding treatment costs from the hospital in the USA, and our services to the desired airport or cemetery.

Will I always be kept up to date with the current status of processing?

Yes, we always handle the transfer of the deceased to the USA in close consultation with you so that you are always kept up to date. If you do not want this, please let us know in good time.
