What documents are required for the transfer of the deceased or urn to Ukraine?

The following documents are required for the transfer of the body or ashes  Ukraine.

  • identity card of the deceased and the identity card

  • Data (name and telephone number) of the recipient in Ukraine, or the data of the accompanying person

All other documents, e.g. birth certificate for unmarried persons, marriage certificate for married persons, death certificate of the spouse for widowed persons, etc., are only required for the final death certificate and can be conveniently submitted to the relevant registry office after the transfer of the deceased.

If documents are missing, a provisional death certificate is issued by the registry office, which can be used to transfer the body to Ukraine without any problems.

 

What does it cost to transfer a deceased person to Ukraine?

The full cost of repatriating a body or urn to Ukraine varies and depends on the following factors.

  • place of death (travel costs)

  • Airline freight costs (depending on the weight of the deceased)

  • Fees incurred at the hospital, registry office, cemetery, coroner's office, etc.

In order for us to be able to send you a more precise offer for the repatriation of a deceased person to Ukraine, please provide us with detailed information about the death.

Important and current note: Due to the current situation in Ukraine, we can only offer repatriations of deceased persons by hearse to Ukraine or to the national border, which also involves higher costs due to the risk and increased effort. Please contact us for a current and individual offer 

What services and fees do these costs include?

  • The coroner's fee charged by the doctor or hospital.

  • the collection of the deceased from the place of death and the subsequent transfer to us.</p

  • We have the option of storing the deceased in our cold storage cells.</p

  • The hygienic care of the deceased

  • Performing the necessary preservation or embalming with formalin, including optical preparation (thanatopraxy).

  • We carry out the basic hygienic care, dressing (including own clothing if desired), legal coffining.

  • Legal transfer coffin with zinc insert, which is sealed airtight. Incl. pillow and blanket

  • Administration fees and booking of the flight to Ukraine

     

  • issue of an international death certificate from the competent registry office

  • the corpse passport from the public order office

  • The submission of the German burial documents to the consulate.</p

  • Our fixed price is not reduced if individual services are not used.</p

What is the procedure?

  1. Fill out our order form and send it to us with the required documents and information by email.

  2. Wait until we have completed all the necessary documents and all other activities and we will get back to you.

  3. You will receive all important documents and information such as AWB consignment note, flight data, photos etc.

  4. The deceased is duly delivered to the airport and handed over to the forwarding company

Every international airport is able to accept bodies  or urns and can therefore be approached.

As a rule, a smooth transfer of a body or urn (ashes) to Ukraine takes between 5-10 working days

How high are the costs for repatriation from Ukraine to Germany?

 

If a death occurs in Ukraine, we are able to cooperate with our local partners to repatriate the deceased to Germany. This is often associated with very high costs, so it always makes sense to take out travel health insurance.

The total costs are made up of the costs of the funeral director in Ukraine, any outstanding treatment costs from the clinic in Ukraine, and our services to the desired airport or cemetery.
