What documents are required for the transfer of the deceased to South Africa?

 

The following documents are required for the repatriation of the body to South Africa.

 

• Identity card of the deceased or the identity card

 

 

• Data (name and telephone number) of the recipient in South Africa, or the data of the accompanying person.

 

 

All other documents such as birth certificate for unmarried persons, marriage certificate for married persons, death certificate of the spouse for widowed persons etc. are only required for the final death certificate, but can easily be submitted to the relevant registry office after the transfer of the deceased.

 

If documents are missing, a provisional death certificate is issued by the registry office, with which the body can be transferred to South Africa without any problems.
