What documents are required for the transfer of the deceased to India?

The following documents are required for the repatriation of the deceased and urns to India:

• Passport or identity card of the deceased in copy - scanned by email 

• Data of the recipient person in India, if applicable, or the data of the accompanying person, if someone wants to fly on the same plane.

All other documents such as birth certificate for unmarried persons, marriage certificate for married persons, death certificate of the spouse for widowed persons etc. are only required for the final death certificate and can be conveniently submitted to the relevant registry office after the transfer of the deceased.

If documents are missing, a provisional death certificate is issued by the registry office, which can be used to transfer the body or urn to India without any problems.

What is the procedure?
