What documents are required for the repatriation of the deceased to Finland?

The following documents are required for the repatriation of the body to Finland

  • ID card of the deceased and identity card
  • Data (name and telephone number) of the recipient in Finland, or the data of the accompanying person

All other documents, e.g. birth certificate for unmarried persons, marriage certificate for married persons, death certificate of the spouse for widowed persons, etc., are only required for the final death certificate and can be conveniently submitted to the relevant registry office after the transfer of the deceased.

If documents are missing, a provisional death certificate is issued by the registry office, which can be used to transfer the body to Finland without any problems.

 

What are the costs of transporting a body or urn / ashes to Finland?

The total cost of repatriating a body or urn to Finland varies and depends on the following factors.

  • place of death (travel costs)
  • Airline freight costs (depending on the weight of the deceased)

  • Fees incurred at the hospital, registry office, cemetery, coroner's office, etc.

  • Packing of the coffin with stretch film in accordance with Intern. regulations

  • The transfer to the airport

  • the freight costs of the forwarding agent for transportation to the destination airport in Finland (up to a body weight of approx. 80 kg) with an airline of our choice. We will also be happy to recommend a suitable funeral director in Finland.</p

  • Our fixed price is not reduced if individual services are not used.</p

If you require additional services or services that differ from our offer, this is possible at any time without any problems for an additional charge.


What is the procedure?

  1. Fill out our order form and send it to us with the required documents and information by email.

  2. Wait until we have completed all the necessary documents and all other activities and we will get back to you.

  3. You will receive all important documents and information such as AWB consignment note, flight data, photos etc.

  4. The deceased is duly delivered to the airport and handed over to the forwarding company

 

To which airports do we transfer the deceased and urns to Finland?

Every international airport is able to accept bodies or urns and can therefore be approached.

How long does it take for the deceased or urn to arrive in Finland?

As a rule, a smooth transfer of a body or urn  to Finland takes between 3-5 working days.

 

What are the costs of repatriation from Finland to Germany?

If a death occurs in Finland, we are able to cooperate with our local partners to repatriate the deceased to Germany. This is often associated with very high costs, so it always makes sense to take out travel health insurance.

The total costs are made up of the costs of the funeral director in Finland, any outstanding treatment costs from the hospital in Finland, and our services to the desired airport or cemetery.

The costs here are roughly between 1500 ? and can go up to a high 5-digit range if there are still outstanding treatment costs from the clinic.

 

Will I always be kept up to date with the current status of processing?
