What documents are required for the transfer of the deceased to Cyprus?

The following documents are required for the repatriation of bodies and urns to Cyprus

  • Identity card of the deceased  
  • Data (name and telephone number) of the recipient in Cyprus, or the data of the accompanying person.

All other documents, e.g. birth certificate for single persons, marriage certificate for married persons, death certificate of the spouse for widowed persons etc. are only required for the final death certificate and can be easily submitted to the relevant registry office after the transfer of the deceased.

If documents are missing, a provisional death certificate is issued by the registry office, which can be used to transfer the deceased or urns to Cyprus without any problems.

 

How much does it cost to transfer a body or urn to Cyprus?

The complete cost of a body to Cyprus varies and depends on the following factors.

  • Place of death (travel costs)
  • Airline freight costs (depending on the weight of the deceased)
  • Fees incurred at the hospital, registry office, cemetery, coroner's office, etc.

What services and fees are included in these costs?

  • Administration fees and booking of flight to Cyprus.
  • Issue of an international death certificate from the relevant registry office.

  • Our fixed price is not reduced if individual services are not used.

Should you require additional services or services that deviate from our offer, this is possible at any time for an additional charge.

 

What is the procedure?

  1. Fill out our order form and send it to us with the required documents and information by email.
  2. Wait until we have completed all the necessary documents and all other activities and we get back to you.
  3. You will receive all important documents and information such as AWB consignment note, flight details, photos, etc.
  4. The deceased will be properly delivered to the airport and handed over to the forwarding company.

As a rule, a smooth transfer of a body or urn to Cyprus takes between 5-10 working days.

 

What are the costs of repatriation from Cyprus to Germany?

 

If a death occurs in Cyprus, we are able to work with our local partners to repatriate the deceased to Germany. This is often associated with very high costs, so it always makes sense to take out travel health insurance.

The total costs are made up of the costs of the funeral director in Cyprus, any outstanding treatment costs from the hospital in Cyprus, and our services to the desired airport or cemetery.
