What documents are required for the transfer of a deceased person or urn to Australia?

The following documents are required for the repatriation of a deceased person or urn to Australia

• Copy of the deceased's identity card or passport

• Data (name, telephone number, address and email) of the recipient in Australia, or the data of the accompanying person

All other documents, e.g. birth certificate for single persons, marriage certificate for married persons, death certificate of the spouse for widowed persons, etc., are only required for the final death certificate from the registry office, but can easily be submitted to the relevant registry office after the transfer of the deceased.

If documents are missing, a provisional death certificate is issued by the registry office, which can be used to transfer the body or urn to Australia without any problems.
